these apologies have grown routine; these words defined by an instinct. instant / instead, you make this out to be what's 'best for me' like your whole life, not mine, is in these words. i should have known that some things never change. tell the truth, or at least don't look away. i should have known that someone made you change. this is getting us nowhere. here i stand alone in disbelief, and there you stand to be left witness to this makeshift escape. i'm not blind, and i haven't looked away, but maybe i can't see myself in those shoes. does that mean i've yet to live? left, but not last, nonetheless wondering why you can't force me to live that way.
