Algernon Gordon Effect - In The Clouds
i had a thought
as i lay in bed
it fluttered helplessly
in my head
but then you smashed my fragile skull
with your boot
and in a trance of freedom
it was loose
it spread it’s wings,
soared to a vast place
no longer restricted to a
ten by ten foot space
the atmosphere has altered
since my defection
i no longer dread
the routine inspections
there may be no one
to say they’re proud
but fascist invasions
are no longer allowed
you send scouts:
the black smoke billows
but it won’t puncture
these white pillows
And I am in the clouds
boundless blue is all around
and I am in the clouds,
And I don’t think that I’ll come down
i tried for a moment
to spot you in a crowd
but my vision was hindered
by the clouds
you once consumed me
with your persistence
but now i hardly ponder
your existence
and i no longer have to look up
to say my prayers
because i’m comfortably situated
in the ozone layer
And I am in the clouds
boundless blue is all around…
and I am in the clouds,
And I don’t think that I’ll come down…
as i lay in bed
it fluttered helplessly
in my head
but then you smashed my fragile skull
with your boot
and in a trance of freedom
it was loose
it spread it’s wings,
soared to a vast place
no longer restricted to a
ten by ten foot space
the atmosphere has altered
since my defection
i no longer dread
the routine inspections
there may be no one
to say they’re proud
but fascist invasions
are no longer allowed
you send scouts:
the black smoke billows
but it won’t puncture
these white pillows
And I am in the clouds
boundless blue is all around
and I am in the clouds,
And I don’t think that I’ll come down
i tried for a moment
to spot you in a crowd
but my vision was hindered
by the clouds
you once consumed me
with your persistence
but now i hardly ponder
your existence
and i no longer have to look up
to say my prayers
because i’m comfortably situated
in the ozone layer
And I am in the clouds
boundless blue is all around…
and I am in the clouds,
And I don’t think that I’ll come down…
