Alvin Slaughter - Midnight Cry
Midnight Cry
(written by Chuck Day and Greg Day)
(recorded by Alvin Slaughter)
Verse 1:
I hear the sound of a mighty rushing wind,
and it's closer now than it's ever been.
I can almost hear the trumpet
as Gabriel sounds the chord,
'cause at the midnight cry,
we'll be going home.
Verse 2:
I look around me,
I can see the prophecies fulfilling,
and signs of these old times,
they're appearing everywhere.
I can almost hear the Father
tell the Son, "go get my children";
'cause at the midnight cry,
the bride of Christ shall rise.
Chorus 1:
When Jesus steps out (steps out)
on a cloud to call His children (to call His children),
the dead in Christ shall rise (will rise)
(to meet Him in the air).
Then those that remain (those that remain)
(shall be quickly changed);
'cause at the midnight cry (midnight cry),
when Jesus comes again.
Verse 2
Chorus 2:
When Jesus steps out (steps out)
on a cloud to call His children (to call His children),
the dead in Christ shall rise (will rise)
(to meet Him in the air).
Then those that remain (those that remain)
(shall be quickly changed);
'cause at the midnight cry (at the midnight cry),
at the midnight cry (at the midnight cry),
'cause at the midnight cry (at the midnight cry),
(when Jesus...)
Ending:
(Jesus steps out)
on a cloud (to call His children, to call His children),
the dead in Christ shall rise (ah...)
(to meet Him in the air).
Then those that remain (those that remain)
(shall be quickly changed);
'cause at the midnight cry (at the midnight cry),
at the midnight cry (at the midnight cry),
at the midnight cry (at the midnight cry),
(we'll be going home),
(going home, going home).
