I felt the peace that closeness brings while nestled in your lap.
While you’re away I’m forced to learn absence makes the heart fond.
I wish there was a simple way for me to bridge this gap.

When I first laid eyes on you I gasped in awe and wonder.
It’d been so long since I had seen such beauty grace the earth.
Then you smiled and took with you the fruits of my hearts plunder.
